Balancing breath work

A simple breathing practice, and a few small habits, for the weeks that leave you completely zapped.

Calming breath work and meditation practice for nervous-system balance

Anyone else feeling zapped after last week? We are. We are talking naps, mood swings, and crying, the whole nine. Prioritizing our health does not mean we never feel like absolute garbage. It means that when we do, we stop, listen, rest, and reach for the tools in our self-care tool belt.

What we are prioritizing this week

A few simple things we are leaning on right now, so we do not go into a full meltdown:

  • Getting 15 minutes of sun every day. The vitamin D is good for our mood and our immune systems, both of which could use a little love right now.
  • Allowing our bodies extra rest when we need it.
  • Prioritizing hydration, water-rich foods like fruits and vegetables, and plenty of water.
  • Taking a moment to breathe each day. We are big fans of the exercise below.

A balancing breath work practice

Here is the exercise itself:

  1. Sit tall, rooting the tailbone down and reaching the crown of your head high.
  2. Hook your thumbs together.
  3. Place your hands on your chest, right hand on the left side, left hand on the right side.
  4. Begin breathing slowly as your alternating hand taps, right, left, right, left.
  5. Continue until you notice a calmer state. We are not looking to reach complete nirvana here, just a calmer state and a slower heart rate.

We are sending you love during this challenging time, and we hope you find yourself breathing a little easier today.

In gratitude,
Jaime

A reiki or breathwork session is a good place to land on a zapped week. No agenda, just space to breathe.
