Chronic tension, back pain, and aches that settle into the shoulders and jaw bring many people to reiki. The Practice

Does reiki really help with pain relief?

Reiki does not diagnose, treat, or cure pain or injury. It is a complementary practice that supports nervous-system relaxation, which can ease tension and help you feel more at ease in areas that are sore, tight, or overworked.

Many clients with chronic tension, back pain, or post-injury discomfort describe feeling noticeably lighter after a single session. For chronic patterns, changes tend to build with a short series of sessions rather than one visit alone.

Reiki works alongside your doctor or physical therapist, not instead of them. We always recommend continuing any medical care you already have in place.

What It Supports

How reiki supports tension and pain

Grounded, nervous-system-based support for what the body is holding, alongside the medical or physical therapy care you already have in place.

  • Chronic Tension

Long-held tension in the neck, shoulders, and upper back often eases as the nervous system settles.

  • Low Back Pain

Sessions address the stress layered on top of low back pain, with no pressure or manipulation involved.

  • Headaches & Jaw Tension

Tension headaches and jaw clenching often ease as the head, face, and jaw are given room to relax.

  • Post-Injury Recovery

A complement to physical therapy, supporting a felt sense of ease alongside your medical care, never a replacement for it.

  • Stress-Related Pain

Pain layered with anxiety and emotional weight often responds to nervous-system support that eases both.

  • Fatigue & Heaviness

A rundown, heavy feeling that rest alone does not clear may ease alongside restorative relaxation.

Your Visit

What a reiki session for pain looks like

1

Arrive and settle

You lie fully clothed on a table in our private Melrose studio. A short check-in lets us understand what you are carrying and any areas you would like us to focus on.

2

Hands-on or hands-off table work

Your practitioner moves through a series of hand positions on or near the body. You may feel warmth, tingling, a deep breath releasing, or a quiet, settled calm.

3

Breath-led integration

The final phase uses breathwork to help the body settle and integrate the session. Most clients describe leaving feeling lighter and more grounded than when they arrived.

4

Integration before you leave

We do not send you out immediately. A few minutes to land, a real check-in on what came up, and encouragement to keep up any medical or physical therapy care already in place.

I felt clearer, lighter, and more positive. It was like a pressure valve had been released.

By combining breath, body, mind and energy work under one roof, in a single session, I take care of myself as a whole being rather than doing maintenance on each part individually.

Good Questions

Reiki for pain relief, answered

Honest answers about what reiki can and cannot do for pain, and what a session involves.

Reiki is not a medical treatment for pain, and it does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Many clients describe softer tension, a calmer nervous system, and a felt sense of relief after sessions. Results vary by person. It works best as a complement to the medical or physical therapy care you are already receiving, not a replacement for it.
Reiki is a light-touch or hands-off practice that uses no electrical stimulation. Many people with pacemakers receive reiki. Please check with your cardiologist before starting any complementary practice.
Reiki sessions at our Melrose studio are $150 for 60 to 75 minutes. No package is required. You can book a single session at a time.
Reiki does not treat these conditions and is not a substitute for medical or neurological care. Some people with chronic conditions use reiki alongside their medical care to support relaxation. Please talk with your doctor before booking.
For tension-related pain, many clients notice something after the first session. For chronic patterns, a short series of sessions tends to show more consistent shifts. You are never required to commit to a package.
Reiki is gentle and non-invasive. Most people on medication or recovering from surgery can receive reiki without issue. If you have a specific medical concern, please check with your doctor first. We welcome an honest conversation about your current care before every session.
