Conscious Communication Coaching · West Hollywood

Say the hard thing in Los Angeles without losing the room

You know how the conversation should go in your head: calm, clear, connected. Then the moment starts, your chest tightens, the wrong words come first, and by the time you find the right ones the other person has already shut down. Word of Mouth teaches conscious communication coaching in West Hollywood, a somatic approach that helps you stay regulated in hard conversations by working with your nervous system instead of around it.

The Practice

What is conscious communication, and who is it for?

Conscious communication is the practice of staying present, honest, and connected during conversations that would normally trigger a defensive or shut-down response. It is not a script or a formula, it is a body-level skill. Regulated enough to hear what the other person is actually saying, not just what your nervous system is bracing against, that requires practice in the body, not only in the mind.

Coaching is a complement to therapy, not a substitute for it. Jaime and Yonatan are not licensed therapists, and this work does not diagnose or treat any condition. Therapy goes deeper into history and pattern origin; coaching builds the real-time practice of staying regulated while the pattern is actually happening. Many clients do both at once.

Who This Helps

Who conscious communication coaching is for in LA

Support for people whose hardest conversations keep going sideways, even when they already understand the pattern.

Couples, families & close relationships

If the same conversation keeps going sideways with a partner, co-parent, sibling, or close friend, we address the specific dynamic, including couples who have done therapy and still feel stuck.

Therapists, healers & caregivers

You know the frameworks and teach them daily. But when the hard conversation is about you, a supervisor's feedback, a family boundary, a peer conflict, the frameworks do not always hold under your own pressure.

Individuals building the skill alone

Most clients start 1:1, even when a partner is involved in the pattern. Changing how you show up in a conversation shifts the dynamic before the other person changes anything.

Why It Works

How conscious communication coaching works with your body

Most communication programs teach you what to say. Nonviolent Communication gives you four steps. Attachment theory gives you a framework for what happened. Both are useful and true. What they do not change is the moment itself, the ten seconds when your voice tightens, the other person's face closes, and the conversation goes somewhere you did not mean for it to go.

  • The threat signal fires first

Before a conscious thought forms, your nervous system detects a tone, a word, or a look that matches an old threat pattern. This happens in milliseconds, faster than you can choose a different response.

  • Your breath changes before your words do

Breathing goes shallow and chest-bound as the body prepares for a fight or a withdrawal, neither of which serves the conversation you actually want to have.

  • Language and feeling stop coordinating

The part of your brain managing words and the part tracking your feelings disconnect under threat. Words come out harder, flatter, or not at all, and the message lands wrong.

  • You learn to notice and name it

The first skill we teach is catching this sequence in your own body before it runs to completion: a 3-second breath, a named sensation, a deliberate pause. These interrupt the pattern before it hijacks the room.

We start with the breath, the body, and the nervous system because that is where the conversation actually lives. Once you can interrupt the physiological sequence, the language often takes care of itself.

Your Path

What a conscious communication program looks like

A body-based skill takes practice, not a single insight. Here is how the work typically unfolds.

1

Book a free discovery call

Twenty minutes, no charge. We talk through the pattern you want to shift and whether a 1:1 or couples format fits best.

2

Your first session, most often solo

Most clients begin 1:1, even when the goal involves a partner. Changing how you show up in a conversation shifts the dynamic before the other person changes anything.

3

You practice noticing your body's sequence

Sessions build the notice-and-name skill, catching the threat signal, the breath change, and the disconnect before it runs the conversation for you.

4

You bring it into the conversations that matter

The goal is not a technique for the session room. It is staying regulated with a partner, a co-parent, a supervisor, or a peer, in the moment it counts.

Couples can also do sessions together through our couples coaching format once individual regulation has a foundation.

Good Questions

Conscious communication coaching, answered

Honest answers about how this compares to Nonviolent Communication, whether your partner needs to join, and what it costs.

This work lives in the same family as NVC, and we respect the foundation Marshall Rosenberg built. The difference is the entry point. NVC teaches a four-step process for what to say. We teach what to do in your body before you speak. The somatic layer makes the language steps more accessible under real-time pressure. We do not hold NVC certifications; we hold Somatic Facilitator, Breathwork, and Reiki Master Teacher credentials.
No. Many clients do this work 1:1 first, which is often the most efficient path. When you change how you show up in a conversation, the dynamic shifts, even when the other person has not changed anything yet. Couples can also do sessions together through our couples coaching format.
The four commonly named styles are passive, aggressive, passive-aggressive, and assertive. These labels are useful for recognizing patterns in hindsight. In real time, though, knowing your style does not stop you from defaulting to it under pressure. That is what the somatic practice changes, the real-time response, not the category.
Different frameworks name different C's. One version uses clarity, conciseness, correctness, coherence, and completeness. Another uses connection, curiosity, compassion, courage, and consistency. These are good organizing principles. The gap between knowing them and using them in a hard moment is where our work lives.
A single session is available, though most clients begin a multi-month program to move from conceptual understanding into somatic habit. Program structure and investment are mapped together on your free discovery call, because the scope depends on where you are and what you are working on.
Yes. Coaching and therapy are different containers that complement each other well. Therapy goes deeper into history and pattern origin; coaching builds real-time practice. Some therapists refer clients to us for the embodied layer their sessions cannot reach.
Yes. Many practitioners know the frameworks and still find themselves reactive in their own hard conversations. Professional knowledge does not automatically translate to personal regulation. We have worked with licensed therapists, coaches, bodyworkers, and healers who wanted to close that gap.
Yes. Conscious communication coaching is available virtually and works well online. Some clients prefer in-person at our Melrose studio in West Hollywood, especially for a first session. Both formats are available.
